Happy Birthday!

Happy 1 Month Birthday Brooklyn!
On Monday we celebrated Brooklyn's 1 month birthday. I can't believe she is 4 weeks old already! "They" say the time goes by fast, boy are "they" right! Brooklyn is a true blessing and we cherish each and every day, even the not so great ones. Every day we are learning more and more about our beautiful daughter.
Brooklyn loves to listen to stories, listen to music (songs that mommy and daddy sing and real songs on the CD player), laying on her tummy time mat (not on her tummy though), holding her head up, giving mommy and daddy little smirks and kisses, crying when her tummy hurts, grunting when she is working on something, and taking naps in her swing, on the couch, and in her crib. But most of all she LOVES cuddling with mom and dad!
Brooklyn is sleeping really well at night. She typically only wakes up one time to feed. I usually feed her between 9:30 and 10:00 pm, we put her down in her crib, she wakes up anywhere between 12:00 and 2:00 am to eat, and then sleeps until about 7:00 am. Every day/night is a little different, but she is sleeping a lot at night, which is a really great thing!
I am not sure what Brooklyn weighs right now, but I am guessing about 7 1/2 pounds. She is starting to fill out her newborn clothes a little more, however everything seems to be a little big on her still. Our next appointment isn't until her 2 month appointment on April 6th. I am NOT looking forward to this one, as she will be getting a round of shots. I was hoping Ryan would take her, but he might pass out, so it looks like I am going to have to be the strong one!
I continue to LOVE being a mom, but do have to admit that it can be frustrating at times. The hardest part of my mommy job is figuring out why she cries such painful cries and how to make her feel better. I think we have figured out which cries are the "My tummy hurts" cries and which ones are the "I don't like my position" or "I am hungry" cries. Trying to soothe Brooklyn is all about trial and error right now. One strategy may work one day, but not the next day. It is all a learning game and it definitely keeps us on our toes.

Brooklyn and I continue to make our way out into the world at least once a day to do something. This week we went to visit Graham and Holly on Monday and Jack, Sam, and Christina on Tuesday. We are really looking forward to the weather warming up, so that we can go on long walks. Here is Brooklyn sporting her new hat someone from Ryan's school made her! I LOVE this picture! Notice the bib...Brooklyn seems to be spitting up a little more, so now we are wearing fashionable bibs for at least an hour after we eat.
I wanted to thank some more friends for stopping by and meeting Brooklyn. A huge thank you to Erin and her son Cameron, Amy and her daughter Addison, and my good friends Jess and Sarah. It was so nice to be able to spend some time with all of you! I am sorry I totally forgot to get pictures of your visit. Next time...
