On April 2nd Brooklyn celebrated her 2 month old birthday, while Grandma Quist celebrated her 80th Birthday. Even though she is still a peanut, she is growing more and more right before our eyes. She is so much more alert now. She is able to be awake for a long period of time without crying. She is getting less fussy, but we definitely know when she has a tummy ache.
Brooklyn takes two long naps each day and sometimes some short cat naps. Lately, we have been putting her in her crib to nap, rather than in her swing. She continues to sleep through the night. She sleeps from about 10:30pm-7:30am. However, it takes us awhile to get her down for bed. We typically start her bedtime routine around 9:00, but she doesn't actually fall asleep until about 10:30. We are still working on shortening the amount of time it takes her to fall asleep. Sometimes we rock her, put her down, and then she will cry about 10 minutes after we think she is sleeping. She might do this 2-3 times where we have to go in and comfort her. I guess I can't complain, especially since once she is asleep, she sleeps well.
She is smiling more, is awake more, and is cooing. Today she actually laughed. She made a laughing sound when she smiled. How fun! I look forward to more of those. As much as I like her being little, I do look forward to her getting a little bigger and more interactive.
Hip, hip hooray...I am 2 months old today!
Weight: 8 lbs (3rd percentile)
Length: 21 1/2 inches (21st percentile)
Head Circumference: 36.8 cm (11th percentile)
We have come to the conclusion that Brooklyn is just a peanut. I was predicting that she was at least 9 lbs. Boy was I wrong. Dr. Franck isn't too concerned, but she said that I should start feeding her more frequently. I feel like that is all I do already. We made a weight check appointment next month. I sure hope she starts gaining weight.
She had her first set of shots. That was NOT fun for mommy! I tried to mentally prepare myself, but I was so nervous. She did great with the oral one, but screamed (obviously) for the ones in her legs. I just held her hands, kissed her forehead and tried to comfort her. I didn't cry until after we left the doctor's office. I had to be strong for her. I did nurse her afterwards, which was a recommendation by Marisa and that seemed to soothe her. I can't wait for her 4 month shots - just kidding!
