Today was the big day. I set my alarm for 3:15 am, woke up Brooklyn to nurse, since she had to fast 6 hours before her procedure and I didn't want her going 12 hours without eating. She ate a little and went right back to sleep. We woke her up at 7:30, changed her diaper and put her right into the carseat. She doesn't love going into her carseat, especially when her tummy is hungry. We didn't have a peaceful car ride to the hospital.
Looking good in the mini hospital gown. Brooklyn was very patient. She was actually MUCH better than we thought she was going to be.
At 9:30 we were taken to the 3rd floor, introduced to the anesthesiologist and spoke to Dr. Flanary. We said our "see you in a little bits", gave her a kiss and headed to the family waiting room. I quickly kissed her and walked away - be strong, be strong, be strong...
We waited about 15 minutes and Dr. Flanary came and let us know that everything went well. Then the anesthesiologist came and brought me to her in the recovery room. That was the hardest part for me. She had so many cords attached to her. I was able to nurse her right away. She latched on just wonderfully and ate well. Phew!
We were moved back to the room we started in and had to wait there for an hour to be sure she was good to go. We were discharged around 11:45. We were very impressed with the staff at Children's Hospital. Everything went very well and Brooklyn was such a good little girl.
Ryan and I played the tongue game with her while we waited to be discharged. She is able to stick out her tongue now ! YIPEE! It was funny to watch her move it around in her mouth.
Of course I'm crying...go figure! We're so happy that all went well for Brooklyn...I"m sure it helped that you were strong for her too :)

Hi Jen and Ryan! First off...congratulations to you all! I have followed your blog over the past few months through the Hanks blog. We delivered so close to eachother that it's been fun to see how little Brooklyn and family are doing as well. Glad to hear the surgery went well. Hope you are enjoying your time home Jen! Should be a fun summer!
