This past weekend we took our first flight with Brooklyn to Minneapolis. What a great way to test the waters. We found really cheap tickets and decided to give it a try. Brooklyn was a trooper. We arrived at the airport around 6:15, got our tickets, and found out that the flight was delayed an hour. BUMMER! So, we slowly but surely got through the security check point (after I had to take out all of her food so they could test it), walked to our gate and met up with our friend Kevin, who was traveling on the same flight. The reason we were headed to MN was for our friends Kevin and Jess's good-bye party. They are moving to Madison, which we are super excited about!
Brooklyn riding in to the airport.
On Saturday we woke up, had a delicious breakfast, spent time with Grammy and Grandpa and then headed to Jen, Nate, and Daniels house for the afternoon. Jen is due October 21st, but her doctor said she could go any day. We are super excited to hear the good news.
Saturday night was the big good-bye party for our friends. Grammy and Grandpa went to Pipestone for my cousins confirmation, so Auntie Katie and Uncle Mike offered (were asked) to be babysitters for the evening. They started the evening with a nice stroller ride, played a little, gave her a bath, and put her down for bed. Pretty easy babysitting job! Thanks Katie and Mike! Brooklyn had a blast with you!
We had a great time Saturday night celebrating with our friends. It was SO nice to see everyone again! Good times as always! I unfortunately didn't get any pics of the evening, but Kendra was the photographer...hopefully I will get some from her. I was calling "dibs on doubles" but I guess that is the wrong thing to say now. I quickly learned the new lingo is "tag it"...I guess I am out of the loop when it comes to technology.

Our flight on Sunday morning was at 10:25, which wasn't the best timing for Brooklyn's schedule. We got to their airport around 9:00, managed to get through security a little faster this time, got to our gate, changed her diaper, and then loaded the plane. Brooklyn was ready to eat right away again. Unfortunately, the plane was stuck on the runway for about a half hour, which meant that Brooklyn was done nursing and a little crabby by the time the plane actually took off. I wanted her to keep sucking on something, bu she refuses her nuk, unless she is tired (a good thing, I guess). I am sure the air pressure bothered her ears, as she made a few squeals. I know it bugged my ears. She didn't get a morning nap and she was refusing to take one on the plane - it just wasn't her crib. So we ended up playing, looking out the window, and reading some books. She did fairly well, once we got going. Fortunately the plane was bigger than the one on our way to MN and it wasn't full. Ryan and I spread out so Brooklyn could play in the middle seat. It was interesting. I didn't mind her talking away, but I worried about the other people on the flight. I am sure they thought..."Oh great, a baby!"
Overall, we had a good first flight experience. I guess I would do it again...
Glad to hear you had a successful and fun first flight get-away!!!!
